Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, often referred to professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. On October 21, 2016 she debuted Pho, her first EP under the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby released her debut studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 following the release of her debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound, as well as the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The 21st day of July, the 21st of July in 2015 Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat it Out.. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to use it together with Rihanna. It was announced on December 8 that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. She also appeared in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang and Icarus together with Bas and her labelmates. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream on her first album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. In November, she dropped two singles, forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 2013, she released No One as well as Pedigree. She appeared with Cole on the Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then made the track available in a solo version to her first album. The track was accompanied by the music video which debuted on February 20 2019, and it surpassed the milestone of 3 million views on YouTube within the first week. In support of the track, she toured in concert with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
